Wellington Greens Walking Trail

to be closed for Maintenance

June 16 & 17, 2021

The association’s board of directors is pleased to announce that we’re moving ahead with a new capital project for 2021. One of our goals for this year was to apply repairs to the walking trail between Trotter Ridge Court and Trimmer Elementary School.

This trail is coming up on 20 years old and has some problems on it that we are looking to “stay ahead” of. Because of your annual dues and capital contributions, these repairs are being completed at no additional cost to any homeowner.

Problems that have been observed have to do with splits or “cracks” in the asphalt. In some cases, root growth has caused some splits, and in other cases its just weather worn. The splits will be patched, and the entire span (over 800 feet) will have a commercial asphalt sealant applied. Should add many years to its’ life.

On Wednesday, June 16th and Thursday, June 17th the trail will be closed to all traffic. The board will be posting signs at both ends of the trail and will place warning tape to remind users that it is temporarily off limit.

We appreciate your help to remind your family and friends to avoid the walking trail for these two days. As with any asphalt sealing project, it takes about two full days for the sealant to set, so it’s very important to keep all traffic off of this during that time.

If the trail is used during this time, you may risk damage to your shoes, clothes, bike tires, etc., and also cause damage to the sealant. This may lead to additional costs and closures so the damages can be repaired.

If the weather prevents our contractor from performing the work on this date, we’ll reschedule and post new signs at both ends of the trail.
